Kamimura & Co. is a Japan-based multidisciplinary design studio focusing on visual identity. Our mission is to shape new cultures today with our clients who value the power of design.
——What is really essential? This question is always behind us. We see the answer to this question as a “design”, so we do research, planning, prototyping and visual production in an integrated manner. It is also important for us to recognize the current issues and construct good questions, as the needs change with the times in our society.
Visual design is almost on every aspect of communication, from screens to landscapes — we believe that they are necessary for most of us and they are not something special only for a part of people. Likewise, we are convinced that life with intelligence and culture is not a privilege for some people, but they are inherently essential for everyone. Through the process of design, we are aiming to make a creative ecosystem and to contribute to a cultured society. With these principles, we are conducting our design work every day.

TEAM
Born in 1989, Makoto taught himself design before working with a wide range of clients at design firms in Tokyo. He started his own design studio in 2011 and co-founded Kamimura & Co. with Sachi in 2018. Makoto also works as an Art Director and Type Designer at Detail Type Foundry, approaching his work with a holistic mindset.
After working for internet service companies, Sachi began assisting Makoto’s design studio in 2014 and co-founded Kamimura & Co. in 2018. She holds a B.A. in Arts Management from Shizuoka University of Arts and Culture, as well as an M.A. in Comparative Civilizations from Rikkyo University. As a director of both the studio and Detail Type Foundry, Sachi works closely with clients and partners to bring projects to life and build stronger relationships.
Takuma graduated from the Department of Design Informatics at Musashino Art University in 2024. During his studies, he explored visual expression through multimedia, film, and graphic design. While still a student, he began working at a Tokyo-based design office, where he gained hands-on experience. He joined Kamimura & Co. in 2025.
